John Corrigan's election in February 2008 as Democratic Committeeman
marked a new era of open and progressive Democratic politics in Chicago's
42nd Ward.
John is an attorney, Democratic strategist and expert in local, state
and federal government affairs. John is also a veteran of the United
States Army, educated in the public school system, graduate of the
DePaul University College of Law, and small business owner.
John currently serves as a member of the Chicagoland
Chamber of Commerce's Government Relations Committee and as a
Board Member of the Illinois
Council Against Handgun Violence .
For over a decade, John has fought to elect Democrats who promote progressive values, open and honest government and fiscal responsibility and intends to bring these values to the Ward as Democratic Committeeman. Working closely with Alderman Brendan Reilly, John is committed to ensuring that the residents of the 42nd Ward have strong, effective and responsive leadership now and in the future.
Progressive and pragmatic public policy are the twin pillars of the
42nd Ward Democratic Party. The 42nd Ward Democratic Party accomplishes
these goals by helping elect Democratic candidates, informing the
electorate about relevant issues, organizing volunteers, planning
events, increasing the number of Democratic voters, and much more.
The goal of the 42nd Ward Democratic Party is promote candidates who
promote fiscal discipline, economic opportunity, education, affordable
health care, environmental protection, international cooperation and
open and honest government.
The 42nd Ward includes Chicago's Loop, Gold Coast, River West, Near North, River North and Streeterville neighborhoods and includes most of Chicago's top business headquarters, cultural institutions and retail shopping destinations. The 42nd Ward is blessed with an abundance of diverse intelligent, talented and generous residents. One of the unique strengths of the 42nd Ward historically has been its ability to embrace the different groups that live and work in the Ward. I intend to continue that tradition because, as history has shown, when a political Party operates under a big tent, speaks with one voice and turns no one away it can accomplish just about anything.
